Mis-Adventures in Restoring My 1965 Mustang

Page #3 The final Chapter?  ( NO WAY!!)

4/01/98-- Well now its time to get that paintjob! But who???? I had been hearing great things about a guy called Dan Wehrle who owns an operates Wehrle's Paint & Detail. One day while doing some test drives I drove the car over to Dan's shop. I wanted him to see it an give me a price on shooting it "Candy Apple Red". ( A color that I fell in love with as a teenager)  I just didn't want anyone painting it, I wanted someone who would make this car LOOK GREAT! After talking to Dan an asking him how he does his paintjobs, I soon knew that he was the right man for this job!  BUT..... the only problem was I was going to have to be put on a waiting list, ( I hate being on a waiting list! )  Bet I drove him crazy calling an checking where I was on his   waiting list...... "Sorry Dan!"   Well on 9/7/98 was the BIG day! My Mustang went into Dan's shop for that long awaited new paintjob!

FIRST thing Dan did to my car was to remove all the old layers of paint (4 of them all different colors!) an he did it the old fashion way, sanding it off back to bare metal. After several days an a new air sander the Mustang was sanded back to Silver! (bare metal)  So then it was time for the bondo ( small  surface dents only )  and lets primer this puppy!.

Wow! this is the first time I ever seen it all the same color even if its just primer! It was beautiful! I was so PROUD!

Dan a few days later shot the Candy Apple an 2-3 Heavy Coats of Clear   Now its really taking shape!

But we still have ALL new chrome to be put on yet!

Dan! You have outdone yourself again Luv Your Work!

I am still working on detailing out the engine compartment an trunk an doing a complete engine overhaul this spring if I have the $$$ for it but for the most part it's done! An runs great! I love taking it out for my Sunday drives an watching the rubbernecks taking a second an third look at her! Now I can't wait to start showing it in some Car Shows in 99!

Now on to Misadventures in Showing a 65 Mustang!
