Memorial Ride in honor of Sgt. Jesse R. Tilton
On Saturday, July 14th, 2012, Sgt. Jesse R. Tilton U.S.
Army MARS Memorial Club Station will host the 2nd annual ride, rain or shine, in
honor of Sgt. Jesse R. Tilton formally of the 82nd Airborne Division, of
Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry
Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team who was killed in action on July 13, 2010
while treating a fellow Paratrooper as the rest of the unit repelled a complex
attack by insurgents on the Afghan National Civil Order Police Headquarters in
Kandahar City, Afghanistan.
Assembly, and sign up of participants at the starting
point will be at 11:00 in the the Northern most area of the public parking lot
of the Decatur Airport. The planned
route is to leave the Decatur Airport at 12:00 noon, traveling to Lincoln’s
Challenge in Rantoul, and Returning to Long Creek to Point Pleasant Cemetery,
Sgt. Tilton’s final resting place. All are welcome.
There will be an Amateur Radio Special Event station, and
Military Auxiliary Radio Station set up at Lincoln's Challenge. Refreshments
will be available for purchase at Lincoln's Challenge. There is a suggested
donation of $10.00 all riders who sign up, will be entered to win various
prizes. All Proceeds will be split between Lincoln's Challenge, and Sgt.
Jesse R. Tilton Memorial Club Station.
